AVG 8 Invalid Control CTF file Fix!

i sure users here will experience the above problem if you have not already ?

the problem appears when you attempt to update or a auto update fails with the message

"Invalid Update Control CTF File".

i have been busy all day with phone calls and it may be widespread or only on one of the servers where by the last update had a error of sorts which is now causing the problem.

users have tried to overcome the problem by reinstalling AVG 8 over itself, but this at first appears to fix the problem but causes Internet Explorer to crash.

the fix is to go into the hidden folders (by default) and delete a couple of files which fixes the problem, but as i know not if people are trusted to do this its risky fix over the phone.

so the fix is

download the file i have put below its a simple .vbs script and is perfectly safe to use and i would not ask anyone here to run a script i cannot personally vouch for, and this one is perfectly safe.

unrar/zip the file and simply double click it to run (works on XP and Vista) and a pop up will say now run avg update and your sorted.
