Bond Set On Woodale Man.

Bond was set at $325,000 Tuesday for a Wood Dale man charged with reckless homicide after slamming his Harley Davidson into a taxi on Lower Wacker Drive Sunday, killing his 44-year-old passenger.

Cook County Judge Laura Sullivan set bond for Edward Colby, charged with one count each of reckless homicide and aggravated DUI resulting in a death, according to Cook County State’s Attorney’s office spokesman Andy Conklin.

About 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Colby was driving eastbound on Lower Wacker Drive when a cab in the westbound lanes made a left turn onto North Garvey Court, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.

Colby was allegedly driving the motorcycle 80 mph in a 30 mph zone when he ran a red light and “t-boned” the cab, Conklin said, citing court records. The 44-year-old passenger flew over the taxi.

The passenger, Florence Nicioli of 350 Tonne Rd. in Elk Grove Village, was pronounced dead at 5:08 a.m. Sunday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Colby, of Wood Dale, was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Langford said. Upon admission, Colby had a blood alcohol level of .09 and traces of cocaine, opiates and methadone in his system, Conklin said, citing court records.

The taxi driver and his passenger were also hurt and they were taken to Northwestern Memorial, Langford said.

It was unknown if either person on the Harley was wearing a helmet, but there were no helmets on the scene following the accident.
