What a great day for a ride with yer mates!
Stuart on his Buell with the lovely Cathy, and the equally as lovely Mrs DD and I left Exeter and made our way down the A30, stopping off for coffee at Roadford Reservoir. Then just on down the road to Kennards House, Launceston, to meet up with the North Devon Harley Riders (nice to meet you Andy at long last) and the Kernow Harley riders, plus a quite a few more!
Then after ‘El Presidente’ kept us all waiting, yes Essjay, we now know that you like to keep your minions waiting and to ‘make an entrance’ off we went, 60+ Harleys, a Buell and a Moto Guzzi winding our way down through Cornwall and on to the new Harley Dealership. And what a winding way - I’m just glad to see the trikes still had all 3 wheels attached after those narrow (and one was particularly narrow) bridges!
Thanks to the guys that ‘blocked’ the junctions and roundabouts so that we could all arrive together, that was some sight, 60 rumbling Harleys down through the towns and villages en route! Even the car drivers didn’t seem to mind, they must appreciate ‘Class’!
Many thanks to Richard Marsh, Chris and Andy at the new dealership, a really nice bunch of girls and guys who made us all welcome (oh yeah thanks Richard for the little ‘freebies’)
Had a nice ‘blast’ down the A38 on the demonstration XR1200, smooth, very smooth, me not the bike! No, really the bike was really good, and there was NONE of this ‘old fanny’ about havin’ to give out credit card details and a £500 deposit etc. etc. before you can test ride a bike, Chris and Richard were really trusting, seeing as though they were lettin’ me ride it unaccompanied! Sorry Richard, about the bald back tyre when I got back, but I was practicing me ‘doughnuts’….!
Then on to ‘Scrappy’ (Jan)! Buy that Fat Bob, you looked really good on it! If you need extra money send Big Chris down to Union St. to see if he can ‘rustle up a few extra quid’, he won’t mind!
Seriously……………….that bike………….suits you madam!
Then on to the Hoe (no we’re not talkin’ about Big Chris anymore) Plymouth Hoe, well actually it was the ‘Barbican’ (but never let the truth get in the way of a good story) and on to Capt’n Jaspers (famous Plymuff grub), and some seriously good cholesterol in a bun/roll etc. etc!
All in all, a really great run with a great bunch of people, thanks to Big Chris and Essjay for arranging it all, what more can I say, hope to see you all soon and ride safe!
